Public Hearing Proposed Updates to the APR-DRG Grouper 41

Hearing. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) conducted a public hearing to receive public comments on proposed version updates to the All Patient Refined-Diagnosis Related Group (APR-DRG) Grouper 41. These updates include Statistical Data Relative Weight (RW), Mean Length of Stay (MLOS), Day Threshold, and universal mean used to reimburse Medicaid Inpatient Hospital Services. The meeting was convened by Jacob Whitefield, HHSC. Proposed to be effective September 1, 2024:  Annual Grouper Update Annual review of APR-DRG Grouper Relative Weight Statistical Table Methodology and Justification. The proposed updates to Grouper 41 and payment rates were developed in accordance with Title 1 of the Texas Administrative Code: Section 355.8052 – Reimbursement Methodology for Inpatient Hospital Reimbursement Background. HHSC uses the 3M Grouper software to assign DRGs and severity of illness (SOI) levels to claims.  HHSC conducted an analysis on the 3M Grouper
