HHSC: STAR Kids Managed Care Advisory Committee

Call to order. Elizabeth Tucker, presiding Chair, convened the meeting. Roll call. Roll was called. A quorum was present. Adoption of January 16, 2019, Meeting Minutes. The minutes were adopted. Introduction of new Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) leadership. New Medicaid/CHIP Chief Medical Director Dr. Ryan Van Ramshorst at HHSC introduced himself. He discussed the importance of value-based payment models and clinical oversight of service provision in the managed care model to children with special health care needs. Also introduced was Dee Budgewater, Deputy Associate Commissioner of Medicaid CHIP Services, Office of Policy and Program. She is interested in effecting policy that can truly make a difference in effectively updating medical policy. The Chair urged the two new officials to use the committee to help develop medical policy and outcomes for the population of kids with special health care needs.
