HHSC: Proposed Rules Regarding Peer Specialist Services

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) conducted a public hearing on October 4, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. to receive public comment on proposed new Subchapter N, Peer Specialist Services, under Texas Administrative Code Title 1, Part 15, Chapter 354. The proposed new rules were published in the September 14, 2018, issue of the Texas Register (43 TexReg 5887). The meeting was convened by Robert Dole. Background and Purpose. The proposed new subchapter implements House Bill (H.B.) 1486, 85th Legislature, Regular Session, 2017, which requires HHSC to establish a Medicaid reimbursable peer service benefit and adopt rules establishing training and certification requirements for peer specialists to provide Medicaid-reimbursable peer specialist "services to persons with mental illness or services to persons with substance use conditions."
