Welcome and Opening Remarks. The meeting was convened by Victoria Ford. Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) Business Plan. Commissioner Ford stated that the plan is still in development and should be released in September. HHSC Cost Containment. Trey Wood, CFO stated that rider 19 requires savings of $350 million in GR. HHSC is looking at: • Contract Efficiencies including bringing services in house • Administrative savings through reduction in printing and mailing costs • Revenue enhancement ideas On August 15th, HHSC sent out a solicitation for input on the rider implementation and the feedback is due August 30th. HHSC Communication on Cost Containment: Submit Your Cost Containment Comments by August 30 The 86th Legislature included a cost containment rider in the FY 2020-21 General Appropriations Act directing the Health and Human Services Commission to achieve $350 million in savings by focusing efforts on “increasing fraud, waste, and abu
