HHSC: Drug Utilization Review Board (Part 1: Drug Class Reviews)
The Texas Drug Utilization Review Board meets quarterly to develop criteria and standards impacting Texas Medicaid, including: developing and submitting recommendations for the Texas Medicaid preferred drug list; suggesting clinical prior authorizations on outpatient prescription drugs; recommending educational interventions for Medicaid providers; and reviewing drug utilization across the Medicaid program.
The DUR board is composed of 20 total members: 18 physicians and pharmacists who provide services across the entire population of Medicaid recipients and who represent different specialties, two representatives from Medicaid managed care organizations as nonvoting members, and a consumer advocate representing people enrolled in the Medicaid program.
