Texas Council on Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke conducts health education, public awareness and community outreach; improves access to treatment; coordinates activities among state agencies; and develops a database of recommendations for treatment and care. TCCVDS members are appointed by the Governor with the consent of the Texas Senate and serve staggered, six-year terms. Three or four-member terms end on February 1 of each odd-numbered year.
