The Texas Administrative Code (TAC) is a compilation of all state agency rules in Texas. The TAC was created by the Texas Legislature in 1977 under the Administrative Code Act. The act allowed the Legislature to direct the Office of the Secretary of State to index, compile, and cause the Texas Administrative Code to be published. The TAC has 16 titles–each title represents a subject category and related agencies are assigned to their appropriate title. For example, the Department of State Health Services corresponds to Title 25 of the Administrative Code. The information and rules contained in those titles are publicly available, and provided through Texas’ Office of the Secretary of State.
