The Office of the Ombudsman’s mission is “to serve consumers through prompt, professional and courteous services as a neutral resource for resolution of health and human services-related inquiries and complaints.” In order to do that, their services include:

  • Conducting independent reviews of complaints concerning agency policies or practices
  • Ensuring policies and practices are consistent with the goals of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission
  • Ensuring individuals are treated fairly, respectfully and with dignity
  • Making referrals to other agencies as appropriate

The office takes, refers, and responds open dialogue with the public, all the while collaborating with health and human services agencies’ leadership, management, and program staff.
